Das heißisostatische Pressen (HIP) ist ein Herstellungsverfahren, mit dem die Porosität von Metallen eliminiert und die Dichte vieler Materialien erhöht wird. Dies verbessert die mechanischen Eigenschaften des Materials (Dauerfestigkeit, Duktilität, Schlagfestigkeit) und die Bearbeitbarkeit, d.h. die Sicherheit des Bauteils wird durch das HIP Verfahren signifikant erhöht. Wenn Bauteile mit dem HIP Verfahren behandelt werden, werden durch gleichzeitige Anwendung von Wärme und Druck, interne Hohlräume und Mikro-Porositäten durch eine Kombination aus plastischer Verformung, Fließen und Diffusionsbindung des Materials beseitigt. Das HIP Verfahren wird verwendet, um die technischen Eigenschaften von z.B. Gussprodukten, additiv hergestellten Produkten, Werkzeugen, Motorsport Bauteilen sowie Luft- und Raumfahrt Komponenten deutlich zu erhöhen.

Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) is a manufacturing process used to eliminate porosity in metals and increase the density of many materials. This improves the mechanical properties of the material (fatigue strength, ductility, impact strength) and machinability, i.e. the safety of the component is significantly increased by the HIP process. When components are treated with the HIP process, the simultaneous application of heat and pressure eliminates internal cavities and micro-porosities through a combination of plastic deformation, flow and diffusion bonding of the material. The HIP process is used to significantly increase the technical properties of, for example, cast products, additively manufactured products, tools, motorsport components and aerospace components.
