MIM Expert Group – Organisation and Responsibilities
The MIM Expert Group is a specialist working group of the Joint Committee on Powder Metallurgy.
Its sponsoring organisations are the Professional Association of Powder Metallurgy, the VDI (Association of German Engineers), the DGM (German Society for Materials Science), the DKG (German Ceramic Society) and the VdEH (Association of German Iron and Steel Workers).
The group comprises industrial partners and research institutes. Here, manufacturers of MIM parts work closely with partners from the fields of metal powder and feedstock production, machine suppliers (injection moulding machines, furnaces, debinding plants), and research institutes.
Currently, more than 35 member companies are organised within the MIM Expert Group, which meets twice a year. The group’s work focuses exclusively on metal injection moulding (MIM).
The processing of hard metal or ceramics using injection moulding is not classified as MIM.
Our main tasks are:
- The promotion of MIM technology (technology marketing);
- The further development of MIM technology (technology development);
- The coordination of interests with those of other associations, such as Euro-MIM, MIMA and JPMA. (Networking)
- We welcome the participation of other interested companies. Applications for membership can be sent to the following contact address.
